Artists Bio and Manifesto:
I was born in St. Louis, MO in 1964. I was not expected to live due to a congenital heart disease; even after surgery, my chances were slim. In the years that followed, I was not allowed to play any reindeer games and I've danced with Death all my life.

I've had many years of art education, where is not important. The one thing I've learned is that anyone can become a painter, but very few have what it takes to be an artist. That's a gift. Think what you will of my work. It doesn't matter to me. I don't do it for you. Maybe I do it for the world and
maybe it should never have been done at all.

The existence of artists and their work to me is a double edged sword: Art has no Practical function, nor does the artist. Yet art and they are invaluable to society.

Artists statement, Early 2011:
I've always enjoyed realists and surrealists: the old masters, Renoir, Mary Passat (Impressionist), and Homer, but also enjoy more modern artists such as Warhol and O'Keefe. There is also something that attracts me to Egyptian art and symbols, as well as cave drawings and Native American works. I like the simplicity and basics of it - plus how they incorporated art into everyday, utilitarian items.

Regarding painting realism: I enjoy the challenge of making something look photo realistic or surrealistic from globs of color. I appreciate black and white works too. I like the feel and close-ups of flowers from Georgia O'Keefe and have recently painted something in her style. I've incorporated a bit of cave drawings or symbols in my painting 'Caverns of Ulthar”.

Creating art is relaxing, a type of therapy to me. Having Diabetic Retinopathy and have lost sight in my eyes temporarily many times in the past, I constantly have to get over deppressed feelings and really appreciate the fact that I can still see well enough to draw and create. Of course, you don't draw and paint with your eyes, you create art with your brain.
